Dhole
Dholes are highly social and intelligent members of the dog family, closely related to wolves and known for their remarkable communication skills. They can produce a wide range of vocalisations, including whistles, screams, mews, and even sounds that resemble a chicken, making them one of the most vocal carnivores in the wild.
These striking animals often resemble foxes in appearance, but their behaviour is distinctly pack-oriented. Living and hunting in tightly coordinated groups, dholes rely on teamwork to take down prey and to protect themselves from larger predators such as tigers.
Native to the forests, grasslands, and scrublands of South and East Asia, dholes face increasing pressure from habitat loss and declining prey populations. As carnivores, they primarily hunt small to medium-sized hoofed animals such as deer and wild pigs, playing an important role in maintaining healthy ecosystems.
